Fire Pension Scheme 2007
This section is applicable to those active members that have been afforded protection in the Fire Pension Scheme (Wales) 2007 (referred to as the FPS 2007 throughout this section).
It is also applicable to those Officers that have left the FPS 2007 with a deferred benefit, or those already in receipt of a pension awarded under the FPS 2007.
Further information regarding the Firefighters' Pension Scheme reform can be found on the Government's website.
Due a change in the FPS 2007 (Wales) regulations on 1st June 2018, it is no longer a requirement for you to nominate a cohabiting partner to receive a survivor's pension after your death. However, your Fire & Rescue Service (FRS) may still request that you complete the appropriate cohabiting partner nomination form in order to keep their records up to date.
