LGPS 2014 - Transitional Regulations Released (March 2014)

The transitional regulations for the LGPS 2014 have been released. These regulations outline how existing members of the 2008 Scheme (as at 31 March 2014) are to be treated from 1 April 2014.

LGPS 2014 - Regulations Released (October 2013)

The regulations for the LGPS 2014 have been released and it has been confirmed that a new scheme will be introduced from 1 April 2014. However, the transitional regulations have yet to be released.

LGPS 2014 - June 2013 Consultation (Draft Regulations)

This consultation starts a third period of statutory consultation on draft regulations for the new LGPS which will come into effect from 1 April 2014. In addition to an updated set of draft regulations relating to membership, contributions and benefits, the draft also includes a new part covering scheme administration.

This period of Consultation closed on 2 August 2013.

LGPS 2014 - June 2013 Consultation (Scheme Governance)

The Public Service Pensions Act 2013 includes several key provisions on scheme governance that we will be required at some stage in the future to introduce into the new LGPS, which will come into effect from 1 April 2014.

This discussion paper explains these requirements in more detail and invites comment on a number of key questions that will help formulate draft regulations on governance. This period of Consultation closed on 30 August 2013.

LGPS 2014 - March 2013 Consultation

This consultation commences a second period of statutory consultation on the new LGPS which will come into effect from 1 April 2014 and will cover draft regulations on membership, contributions and benefits, transitional provisions and miscellaneous provisions.

Please note there are separate closing dates for the different elements of the consultation:

  • 3 May 2013 - Local Government Pension Scheme Regulations 2013
  • 24 May 2013 - transitional provisions and miscellaneous amendments

LGPS 2014 - Consultation Response

Consultations undertaken by the Local Government Association (LGA), UNISON, GMB and Unite have overwhelmingly approved the proposals for a reformed LGPS. The consultations took place between the beginning of June and the end of August and included individual ballots for union members and a process enabling scheme employers to both express support (or not) and make comments on the proposals.
