Ill Health

You can apply to your former Employer for the immediate payment of your deferred benefits on the grounds of ill health, at any age, provided you have at least 2 years total membership or have brought a transfer value into the LGPS.

If the Independent Registered Medical Practitioner appointed by your former Employer certifies that you are permanently incapable of undertaking your former employment, and there is a reduced likelihood of undertaking employment elsewhere, you are entitled to the immediate release of your deferred benefits at an unreduced rate.
