LGPS Benefit Statement 2024

14/08/2024

As an active or deferred member of the Local Government Pension Scheme (LGPS), your Annual Benefit Statement for 2024 will be published by 31st August 2024.  Please note that the values quoted within your statement will NOT include your in-house Additional Voluntary Contribution (AVC) fund.

Hard Copy Statement

If you have made a written election to receive a hard copy of your statement, the booklet under the link at the foot of the page will provide you with the necessary notes of guidance to explain the various sections of the statement.  It has been prepared in accordance with the requirements of the Occupational and Personal Pension Schemes (Disclosure of Information) Regulations 2013 and the relevant Scheme regulations.  However, these notes cannot cover every personal circumstance and in the event of any dispute over your statement, the appropriate legislation will prevail.  They do NOT confer any contractual or statutory rights and are provided for information purposes only.  Please refer to these notes whilst carefully reading your statement.

My Pension Online (MPO) Statement

If you have registered to the My Pension Online service, your benefit statement for 2024 will become available for you to view under the Annual Benefit Statements section, while the necessary Notes of Guidance booklet can be found at the foot of the page.  If you are unable to log in to the service, please contact the Dyfed Pension Fund.

Topping up your Benefits (active members only)

If appropriate, you should have already received a separate statement in respect of your Additional Voluntary Contribution (AVC) arrangement directly from your respective in-house provider, either Prudential, Standard Life or Utmost Life & Pensions.  If this is not the case, please contact the Dyfed Pension Fund.

If you wish to consider paying additional contributions to top up your pension benefits, further information can be found by referring to the Increasing your Benefits index under the Members section.

Please Note

Local Government Pension Scheme
McCloud Remedy

When public service pension schemes changed from final salary schemes to career average schemes in 2014 and 2015, older members were protected from the changes.

In 2018, the Courts found that younger members had been discriminated against because the protection did not apply to them. Changes made to the LGPS from 1 October 2023 removes the discrimination found in the court case. These changes are called the McCloud remedy.

Not all LGPS members are affected by the changes. You can find more information on the national LGPS website, including a short video. Please visit www.lgpsmember.org/mccloud-remedy/

If you are affected, you do not need to write into the pension fund or make any decisions. If you are contacted by a third-party organisation selling a service to help you claim additional pension, you should not engage with them.

As a member of the LGPS, you do not need to take any action to claim your protection under the McCloud remedy. If you qualify, the Pension Fund will automatically apply the protection when you take your LGPS pension.
